The Institute of Digital Games is once again hosting the Malta Global Game Jam on the 20-22nd January 2017! Registration will be opening soon and we would like to intive those interested to join us! Games require a wide array of skills, so we encourage anyone who is interested in making games to join a team and make a game in 48 hours.

There is no better place to try making a game than as part of the the Global Game Jam® (GGJ), the world's largest game jam event (game creation), which is taking place around the world at a number of physical locations, including the Institute of Digital Games in Malta.

Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle.

The GGJ encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.

A Game Jam is the perfect opportunity to make your first game from start to finish! You’ll team up with people with different skills (programmers, artists, designers, musicians, etc.) and various levels of experience.

We encourage you to make a team on the spot! There will even be some time at the beginning of the jam to introduce yourself, pitch your ideas and to find people to jam with.
